Express - First Time Setup

Step 1. Check that you have received all the items. Items included in the box with all Express orders are:

  • MP200 card reader

  • Card reader enclosure

  • 5v 1a USB plug

  • Power cable

Optional accessories specified at the point of order are:

  • Spare battery

  • Security lock

Step 2. Remove the card reader from the enclosure. The device is shipped inside the enclosure to keep it secure.

2a. To remove, turn the enclosure around so you are looking at the rear and locate the locking screw on the right.

2b. Unscrew the lock by turning it anticlockwise. You do not need to unscrew it all the way.

2c. Slide the tray out using the handle to access the card reader. If you ever need to remove the card reader from the tray, there is a hole in the rear that allows you push it out.

Step 3. Switch on the card reader by holding down the power button for a couple of seconds until the screen lights up. Wait for the boot sequence to complete and the device will then prompt you to connect to your Wi-Fi network.

Step 4. Use the up/down arrow and green select buttons to choose the Wi-Fi connection from the list of available networks. Use the pin pad to enter the network password.

Remember: Network passwords are case sensitive so if you need a lower-case letter, you will need to cycle through the upper-case letters to get to the lower-case letters. e.g. to get an upper-case D, you press the "3" button twice, but to get to a lower-case d, you press the "3" button five times. Once connected, the device will enter Express mode with the default donation amount.

Step 5. Place the device back in the enclosure. Remember that at this point the device is ready to accept contactless payments so be careful not to place the card reader near any of your contactless payment methods (like a smart watch, phone, or contactless card).

Step 6. Once in the enclosure, connect any of the accessories like power cable and/or security lock. Without mains power, the device battery should last for around 3 hours before it needs charging again.
